See the sea eagles or a whistling kite soar up past First Lagoon or
along the canals at Bongaree. At the rear of the Recreation Hall in the
centre of the island, observe the grey and pink galahs and topknot
pigeons. At dusk listen to the chorus of thousands of lorikeets all
over the island or visit the bird hide at Buckley’s Hole south Bongaree
where you may sight some of the 350 species of bid life in this
environmental park.
Visit the newly established bird viewing areas at Kakadu Beach, which is part of the Pacific Harbour area of Banksia Beach.
Take
a boat trip up the passage waterways to see spoonbills, ibis, blue
crane, egrets and many other species. Feed the pelicans with fish
scraps on the beach.
